A tongue-in-cheek take on the absurdity of Instagram culture, The View at Lake Como asks: what are we actually looking at?
Set against the picture-perfect landscape of Lake Como, this painting appears at first to be a celebration of the view—but the landscape quickly becomes secondary. The real attraction is, quite literally, the view in front of us. With an endless stream of curated holiday images and attention-seeking poses on social media, the work plays with the ridiculous lengths we go to for the perfect Instagram moment.
Because apparently, even at Lake Como, it’s not about the view.
