Day One Check-In, Turkey depicts two women recovering from facelifts in Turkey, their faces taped and bandaged as they sit in the strange limbo between surgery and reveal. Their glamorous leopard-print outfits contrast with the very private reality of recovery.
The painting pokes fun at a culture where swelling, bruising and surgical recovery are no longer hidden, but documented and shared for everyone to see—turning intimate moments of transformation into public entertainment.
